Dr. Bijayalaxmi Mohanty received her MSc and MPhil degree from Utkal University, Bhubaneswar, India in 1983 and 1985 respectively and then PhD Degree from the University of Cambridge, UK in 1991. Since 1992, she has been working as a Junior/Senior Scientist on ‘Rice Abiotic Stress Tolerance’ at the National University of Singapore (NUS), Singapore. She is currently a Visiting Research Scientist at the Environmental Research Institute, NUS. Dr. Mohanty has been involved in the wellbeing of the Odia community in Singapore for more than two decades. She was actively involved as Cultural Head in the Odia Society of Singapore (OSS) from 2016-2019 and has been involved in many events in promoting our Odia culture and tradition. She coordinated events such as Fashion show on Odisha handloom, Odissi dance, Odia food, Odisha art and craft and many more. She has also contributed in many OSS events such as visit of Honorable Gajapati Maharaja of Puri, Shri Dibya Singha Deb in 2016, Dr. Achutya Samanta, Founder of KIIT’s and KISS, Odisha, Spandan event 2017 etc. Besides, she was actively engaged in the Fani relief mission drive in Odisha, 2019.
